The sun shone, visitors came in their thousands and money changed hands faster than in a financial crisis. In 2008, British Day had its second best year ever in terms of money raised, and so it was a beaming Peter Rogers and Sue Austin who handed over cheques for €38 500 to Hamburg charities at a reception in the Anglo-German Club on 18 November.
