“Midsummer Night” Concert On June 19, music lovers can enjoy classical music by the the Hamburg Camerata (the Hamburg chamber orchestra) with tenor Michael Connaire at the Laeiszhalle. Serenades from Wagner, Mozart and Britten will be presented and interpreted by the orchestra and tenor, conducted by Prof. Max Pommer. Patron of the concert is the British Honorary Consul and the concert is supported by the British Chamber of Commerce, Germany. Further Information: June 19, Laeiszhalle Großer Saal, 8 p.m. |

WFC Welcomes Representatives from the US The World Future Council (WFC) has invited representatives from the major American energy suppliers to Germany. The aim of the one week round-trip, which will cover 15 events running from June 9 to June 13, is to present and promote new technologies, market development and solar energy technology. The American guests, who will be representing companies such as Duke Energy Corporation and Pacific Gas & Electric, will visit a number of different locations, including the Solar Park in Freiburg and the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems. The Solar Electric Power Association and the Northwest Solar Center of Washington State University are among those behind this event. |

 The fact that Hamburg not only has foreign guests and business travellers, but also a very active international community residing here, is well known to most citizens. What is probably less known is that in the hinterland of Hamburg a strong international presence may also be found. An example of this is the Canadian Weeks in Barmstedt. |
