When in Rome, do as the Romans do, the Algerian marines don't have to know how to swim. The reason: if they don't know swimming they will try everything in order to save the ship. That's what the guests of the first information day of the General/Admiral Staff Offiver Course at the "Führungsakademie" (leadership academy) got to know. Nevertheless it would be a pity for tourists not to know swimming because the second largest country on the African continent offers a lot of lovely beaches. Not to forget the rich cultural heritage of the moving history. The Carthaginians, Berbers, Romans, the Ottoman Empire, the French colonization and the Post-Independance all have left their traces, some of them are even considered UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Adventurer will love a trip through the Sahara which is covering 85 % of the Islamic state, which is not only rich of touristic attractions. Algeria has got high petrol and gas reserves. A yearly economic growth of 5,8 % will help the government to realise the enlargement of the infrastructure. Of course Commander Amar Debiche and Morsli Tayeb did also mention the relationship between Algeria and Germany. During the seventies Germany helped building industrial plants in their country. Today 140 German enterprises have branches or offices in Algier and other important cities. Contact for German investors is the German-Algerian Chamber of Commerce.
