John (played by John C. Reilly), a down-on-his-luck golgofrinchian editor (cf.The Hitchiker's Guide To The Galaxy by Douglas Adams), is dumped by his wife Jamie (played by Catherine Keener), who is remarrying. Generous Jamie drags John along to a party where she promises he will meet a lot of cool women. Poor John is in despair and has completely forgotten any pick-up lines he may have known, so he tries a totally new tactic: honesty. He explains exactly how depressed and anxious and hopeless and rejected he feels and it seems to work with the second woman he tells all to - the first one tells him she has to go make a phone call. This second woman is the vivacious Molly (played by Marisa Tomei), who dances into his life. They have sex that very night.

After a number of very good surprise movies during the weekly Sneak Preview at UCI Mundsburg, I thought to give a general screening a go. One thing is certain – this movie is not worth leaving your home on a Sunday afternoon.
