 The Golden Pudel’s resident DJ and Booker Ralf Köster on music, Hamburg and its irrepressible sub-culture. THE: Why is the Pudle Club unique here in Hamburg? Ralf: For starters, the Pudel is a non-profit club, there’s no beer sponsor. Very fair wages support the people who work here, downstairs on the bar - they’re sculptors, writers, artists, DJs and so on. This way the Pudel Club finances a sub-culture. All these personalities, all the people involved in the Pudel can, should and do give their say on how the place is run. That’s what makes the Pudel special.
