 How hard will Hamburg be hit by the world-wide economic crisis? This question will be posed by many after it was revealed today that Hamburg harbour fears a decrease in turnover. This comes in the wake of HSH Nordbank`s announcement to make use of the federal rescue fond. It is yet unknown to what extent small and medium enterprises in Hamburg may also be affected by the downturn.

The world-wide economic downturn is also affecting Hamburg port. International shipping companies predict a ten percent decline of container volumes for 2009.
