On October 3 eighteen years ago, an important event took place in Germany when the FRG and the GDR were reunified into one country after being separate for many decades. Since that day in 1990, the 3rd of October has been a public German holiday, and this year, Germany's political elite celebrated the German Reunification in Hamburg.
