(During the election campaign in February the GAL protested coal-fired power plants. Now they are part of a government that agreed to the construction of a plant in Moorburg /  jetzt.fuermorgen.de)

Coalition continues despite Moorburg controversy

In one of the parties most serious crisis Hamburg's green party made a decision for governmental power and against credibility with the voters. In a general party meeting party members voted in favour of the coalition with the CDU. The crisis started after GAL senator Anja Hajduk agreed to the construction of the CO2-emitting coal-power plant in Moorburg. Preventing the construction of the power plant had been one of the most important election goals of the GAL.
