Several people were injured in attacks on the Reeperbahn last weekend (Photo: www.mediaserver.de)

After several months of relative quiet, violence has once again escalated on Hamburg`s famous amusement mile - the Reeperbahn. During the past weekend, two young men were seriously injured with a knife during a fight, leaving one of the victims in a life-threatening condition. The men had been part of a group who had gotten into a fight in front of the "Große Freiheit" bar. After the fight broke up, the two groups met again by chance an hour later. The fight escalated and a 23-year stabbed the two men with a knife. Police have meanwhile caught the attacker.

Also last weekend, another man suffered a skull fracture after being beaten up by a bouncer. Several other people were lightly injured during attacks on the Reeperbahn or at the S-Bahnhof.  In all cases, the attackers were drunk.
