A gesture of solidarity

On Sunday evening, the Italian Institute of Culture hosted a fundraiser for the victims of the recent earthquake in Abruzzo, Italy. First, the guests heard a reading from Fontamara, Ignazio Silone's novel about the poor people of a fictional town in the Abruzzo region during the time of Fascism. Afterwards, musician and songwriter Mario di Leo presented songs from Abruzzo. Afterwards, the guests could buy typical products of the region, with proceeds to be delivered directly to Abruzzo. Maria Teresa Langona, president of In Teatro, e.V., organized the evening in cooperation with other associations.
