Eurovision Song Contest Party
Approximately 7,000 visitors enjoyed the Eurovision Song Contest Party at the Spielbudenplatz in Hamburg-St. Pauli on Saturday night. Before the television transmission started, music stars like Paul Potts and Guildo Horn, as well as Marc Medlock and Daniel Schumacher, the winners of "Deutschland sucht den Superstar" ("Germany is looking for a superstar") in 2008 and 2009, put the people in good humor. Among the German, Russian and Turkish flags was also a peace-symbol flag raised as a sign of protest against recent anti-homosexual discrimination in Russia, birthplace of contest-winner Alexander Rybak, who now resides in Norway. At 11:30 pm, ex-Modern Talking star Thomas Anders presented the German results.
Among the partygoers was a Moldovan exchange student named Alina, who came from Lüneburg and enjoyed hearing the Germans applaud each time they got points from another country.
