Blackout at Academic Medical Center of Eppendorf It was exactly 2.27 a.m. last night, when the lights at the heart of the Academic Medical Center of Eppendorf went out. For one hour the complex of accident and emergency as well as intensive care unit suffered an electrical power outage. Only those vitally important systems, such as oxygen masks, kept on working. The standby sets are supposed to come into effect 13 seconds after the blackout, but due to an internal error this didn't happen. Just at the moment the fire brigade and technical support service were ready to deliver electricity, the error was found and the lights went on again. Register to read more...
