Solar Heat Milestone for 2008 Achieved The good news : Hamburg becomes more and more eco-friendly. The city's government has put up a climate protection plan with a number of measures to implement in order to support climate protection and reduce CO2 emissions. One of these measures was to build 3,900sqm solar panels on Hamburg's roofs. After receiving additional financial means, the number was raised to 5,400sqm. This latest milestone has already been achieved in June, when subsidies for over 8000sqm had already been granted. The bad news: The subsidy rates went down. On July 22, 2008, builders and owners who want to fit their roofs with solar panels will get less money per sqm. Where before they were funded 160 Euros per sqm it is only 100 Euros now.
